Years of memories blanket my mind, most of a
sweet nature, but some are the hurting kind.  
I’m an old cowboy feelin’ the weight of regret, 
memories fall hard…some I can’t forget.
So I soak up the dark… and drink to ease
my pain.  Drowning Worn Out Memories,
until they surface… again.

DAMN RAIN

Rain – a necessity of life on earth, often
appearing rebuked.
Golf – a game, though unnecessary, has haunted
me, it seems, since birth.
Neither, alas, is within my control,
and both being… a part of my soul.
Each being a bet of its own,
each having a goal… unknown.
My caddie, also my foreman, serves as my right
hand.  He feels the frustration of both “rain and
the game”, knowing the outcome can never be
‘planned’.  So… here we are, we bet on a game,
but the winner today… yet again…

NO REGRETS

All things forbidden may increase desire,
If ever I say otherwise, do call me a liar,
I think of Eve, and consider her plight,
Experience the forbidden…or do what is right?

Sometimes, choosing the ‘wrong’ really feels ‘right’
I relate to Eve in taking that first bite!
I thank her for partaking…she brought “life” to life,
Our Soul is tempered through struggle and strife.

As for me, I love apples…I relish each bite,
I believe most women have faced Eve’s plight.
We each live life through our own mind-set,
My life has been a rollercoaster ride…
But I… have no regret!

She, sitting on her stoop, and I on mine….
Through good times, and hard times,
Our lives we would share,
Speaking of matters the timid would not dare.
Anna is gone now, though not from my heart,
‘Tis Through bittersweet memories….
We never…will be apart.

TO KNOW JOY

In youth, the essence of Joy is not
always fully grasped, 
we live through years just existing before we
finally ask, 
“What am I missing?”
God’s hand is offering the gift,
I have spent money on clothing and jewels,
forever seeking that “quick-fix” lift.
Finally, it seems, we awaken to life,
material stuff is no longer our ploy,
now, in Peace, I know if I had to choose,
I would shed my fine garments
to be cloaked in Joy!

TWO DOVES

The Ladies of the Night, in the early West, were often, individually, referred to as a “Soiled Dove”. When a woman was not married and not a Teacher, Prostitution was often the only choice for one’s sustenance. I believe that most often these girls were ‘pure’ in heart, mentally separating their body from their Soul.

I created this bronze to honor the women of the early West who found themselves ‘trapped’ through circumstance….but remained ‘free’ within their Soul, thus – “Two Doves”.

THE WEEPING POT

There are times I feel in need of a pot in which
to weep, when worldly sorrows burden my day, 
I need a vessel… my tears to keep.  At times I
mourn for memories sweet, or a song from the
past will make me cry.  Other times I fill the pot,
never really knowing why… a weeping pot
in village square, could hold the tears of all.  
We would weep and wail to cleanse our soul
and in the warmth of comfort let teardrops fall.  
Then, as always, after a dark rainy day, the sun
will inevitably shine.  We’ll dry our eyes
and empty the pot and leave it waiting…

This past year I felt the need to challenge myself within my creativity.  Not knowing what that would be or how I would accomplish it, as in all important issues, I left it up to God and the Universe to lead me to the challenge.  I can’t say how or when I received the vision, but suddenly I was sculpting very thin women, with ‘long’ torso’s…the very opposite of the full-bodied, round, earthy women I love to bring to life.  Nor can I say where the “subject” sprang from, albeit, my skinny women portray an intensely popular work of the middle Ages, i.e. The Seven Virtues.  I have given each of the Virtues an alternate meaning. I believe these meanings speak to a world moving toward Enlightenment. In the world I speak of, the opposite acts of the Virtues, termed the Seven Deadly Sins, dissolve as we each “embrace”, and act…from our Soul.
